On July 1 st, 2014, after several years of planning initiated by the Diocese of Saginaw, St. John the Evangelist, St. Joseph, and St. Norbert Parishes merged to form St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. The name for the new parish was chosen through a vote over two weekends in which parishioners were able to choose between several initial names that surfaced.

St. Jude Thaddeus Parish has come a long way since the early 1960's, when the Catholic residents of Paradise Hills first requested a church of their own. Since the first mass was celebrated in 1968, in the original church, St. Jude Parish and the surrounding community has grown tremendously.

From the strictly Chinese parish that was originally envisioned, St. Jude has evolved into something much more, as can be seen from the congregation that participates in its liturgical activities and also in the Thursday novena.

St. Jude, known as Thaddaeus, was a brother of St. James the Less, and a relative of Our Saviour. St. Jude was one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus. Ancient writers tell us that he preached the Gospel in Judea, Samaria, Idumaea, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Lybia.

Brief Biography After the death and resurrection of Jesus, Saint Jude, the brother of James the Less and a cousin of Christ, traveled throughout Mesopotamia for a period of ten years, preaching and converting many to Christianity.

Who is this St. Jude who inspires such confidence and devotion, this saint to whom so many persons turn for help today? St. Jude—one of the Twelve Apostles and brother of James the Less—is a mysterious figure in many ways.
