The Arctic Circle Assembly is the largest annual international gathering on the Arctic, attended by more than 2000 participants from over 60 countries. The Assembly is held every October in Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center and the Reykjavik EDITION, Iceland.

Another Arctic success story of the last three decades is the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007/2008, which was initiated by the International Council for Science (ICSU) (today International Science Council ICS) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The Arctic Circle – UAE: Third Pole Process was a comprehensive effort to introduce the Arctic model of collaboration to the Third Pole region. It built on an effort which, over the years, represented an active engagement with governments and institutions to strengthen scientific research and collaboration.

The Secretariat is based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is responsible for organizing the Assembly and the Forums as well as running the various Arctic Circle Platforms. It is also responsible for the communication and collaboration with Arctic Circle partners, governments, media and those interested in the Arctic and its future.
