When the Ohio State football team returns to Ohio Stadium next week in their home opener, among the loudest and most passionate fans will be the students in Block O. After a year lost to the pandemic, these students are ready to get back in the stands.

Oct 24, 2024 · Under the south stands at Ohio Stadium, Block O has its own storage bunker, filled with cards, tools, signs and even a surplus of snacks to keep students energized.

May 31, 2018 · In 1938, Buckeye head cheerleader Clancy A. Isaac Jr. conceived the organization known as Block “O”. The purpose of this new cheering section would be using plastic cards to form pictures and words in support of the Ohio State Football Team.

Aug 17, 2024 · Ohio State's tradition of awarding the Block "O" is inspired by one of the all-time greats to ever don the Scarlet and Gray: Bill Willis. A defensive end whose career spanned from 1942-44, Willis was an All-American and national champion during his time with the Buckeyes.

Block "O" leads Ohio Stadium in many cheers and songs including Stadium OHIO and the O-H-I-O cheer, which was also started by Clancy Isaac. Since its inception, Block O has added several extensions to help meet student demand for other Ohio State sports.
