The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association recently updated a policy to comply with federal directives which stipulate only students whose sex assigned at birth was female are allowed to compete in high school athletics,

The WIAA stated Wednesday that it was changing its policy and no longer allowing athletes assigned male at birth to compete in girls competitions.

"To use a sports metaphor, it's really un sportsmanlike conduct," said Brian Juchems. Juchems is a senior director of education and policy at GSAFE, an organization committed to making schools a safe place for LGBTQ+ youth. "Singling out trans girls isn't going to make a tangible a difference for school sports," said Juchems.
