Former NFL player Shannon Sharpe has settled a $50 million sexual assault lawsuit brought against him this year by an unnamed woman represented by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee, NBC Sports reported.

The abrupt resolution caps a saga that began on April 20, when Buzbee's firm filed a complaint accusing Sharpe of assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery stemming from what both camps now describe as a "long‑term consensual and tumultuous relationship."

All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice,” said attorney Tony Buzbee
