Eddie Murphy confirmed on the 'Today' show that he will star in a reboot of 'The Pink Panther' franchise as Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Peter Sellers originated the role in 1963's 'The Pink Panther,' and Steve Martin later played the part in a 2006 reboot film.
The comedy legend revealed on TODAY that he will take on the role of Inspector Clouseau in a new “Pink Panther” movie.
Murphy says a film based around the fan-favorite character and his donkey family will begin recording dialogue in September, though DreamWorks hasn't confirmed the project.

The comedy legend, 64, hit the red carpet for the world premiere of Amazon MGM Studios' The Pickup at Regal LA Live on Sunday in Los Angeles. Looking extremely dapper, the icon sported a black suit and black aviator sunglasses for the red carpet. However, his beautiful new wife, Paige Butcher , had photographers stopping in their tracks.
The last actor to play the bumbling Inspector Clouseau on the big screen was Steve Martin; first in 2006's "The Pink Panther" and later in 2009's "The Pink Panther 2." But it was the late Peter Sellers who originated the role in 1963's "The Pink Panther" and went on to play the character in the five sequels that followed.
