A new wildfire that erupted in northern Los Angeles County triggered tens of thousands of evacuation orders and warnings.

Firefighters made progress on the more than 10,000-acre Hughes Fire Friday, which sent thousands fleeing after sparking near the Los Angeles County community of Castaic a day earlier.

The Hughes Fire continues to burn as Santa Ana winds are expected to continue Thursday. A new fire broke out Thursday morning, dubbed the Sepulveda Fire. Here's the latest on both.

Santa Ana winds continue to ravage Southern California, posing critical fire concerns across the region. The extremely gusty winds have instigated new fires, known as the Hughes and Sepulveda fires, which have rapidly spread near Los Angeles.

Gilman Fire initially started today at 2:42 p.m. in San Diego County. After being active for three hours, it has burned two acres. At this time, there is no information available on the containment of the fire.

Over 1,100 firefighters were “strategically pre-positioned” across Southern California to address "ongoing critical fire weather," Cal Fire said.

The two largest fires, the Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades and the Eaton Fire near Pasadena, remain active. One of the latest, the Hughes Fire in the Castaic area, has prompted evacuation orders for tens of thousands of people.
