LIV Golf's season-opening event this week will be played under the lights in Saudi Arabia, but one of the tour's brightest stars won't be there. Phil Mickelson announced on Monday that he has withdrawn from the LIV Riyadh event due to a minor shoulder injury suffered in the gym recently.

Phil Mickelson suffered a minor shoulder injury during a workout in the gym and will miss the LIV Golf season opener in Saudi Arabia this week.

This adjustment in his plans brings Ollie Schniederjans in as his replacement. Schniederjans, who recently claimed victory on the Asian Tour—his first in nine years—has been selected to fill Mickelson's spot in the Saudi Arabia event.
