Ahead of his number retirement and induction into the Mets’ Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday, Wright was asked who he feels embodies the qualities of a captain. He settled on two players: left-fielder Brandon Nimmo and shortstop Francisco Lindor.

The New York Mets honored one of the most beloved players in franchise history Saturday afternoon and officially retired longtime third baseman David Wright's No. 5 in a pregame ceremony at Citi Field.

Because retiring a number has, over the years, become a more common event, it would be no surprise if the Mets had someone else join David Wright and Co. for that honor.
