Iga Swiatek is the favourite to win the ladies’ singles title at Wimbledon after setting up a final against Amanda Anisimova. The clay-court specialist has never won the title at the All England Club but issued a warning to her Wimbledon rivals last month after losing in the final at Bad Homburg.

Meanwhile, Swiatek was found to have been “at the lowest end of the range for no significant fault or negligence” after the 23-year-old Polish player explained that her doping violation was caused by a contaminated supply of the non-prescription medication melatonin, which she uses to help with jet lag and sleep issues.

Alcaraz then stunned Novak Djokovic in the 2023 Wimbledon final, prevailing 1–6, 7–6 (6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4 against the four-time defending champion, and completed the ‘Surface Slam’ with a 6–3, 2–6, 5–7, 6–1, 6–2 victory over Alexander Zverev at the 2024 French Open.

Swiatek may not have completed a French Open four-peat but she is now on the verge of becoming a Wimbledon champion. Over the past fortnight, the 24-year-old has dropped only one set in six matches played at The Championships and she enters as the favorite to beat Amanda Anisimova in the title match.
