Governor Ron DeSantis announced the return of Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, which will run Aug. 1 through Aug. 31, giving families a full month of savings on essential school supplies and more.

TALLAHASSEE — Praised by retailers, derided as a gimmick by critics, Florida on Friday will start a monthlong sales tax “holiday” for back-to-school shoppers, along with eliminating sales taxes on other types of items.

Florida’s 2025 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday begins on Friday and ends on August 31. The holiday now occurs annually, every August.
