In the aftermath of Typhoon Mawar’s devastation in May, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted as many as eight storms could move through the region by the end of the year.
Super Typhoon Mawar was packing wind speeds of up to 155 mph, with gusts approaching 190 mph. Guam was expecting some 20 inches of rain with seas reaching 40-foot swells and surf up to 25 feet.
