The Star Trek franchise is resurrecting William Shatner's Captain James T. Kirk once more, as Kirk takes charge in the bleak, futuristic series Star Trek: The Last Starship.

This will be Kirk back from the dead – as Trekkies know, the good captain died in the 1994 film Star Trek: Generations so any story, screen or comic, has taken place prior to that.

The 39-year-old actor teased, however, that fans can expect Spock to have some more romantic scenes in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3, which premieres on July 17.

But in the era of streaming, almost no series runs longer than three seasons, so we suppose five seasons is a blessing. Star Trek: Discovery, which spawned Strange New Worlds, also only ran 5 seasons.
