Carrie Kuttie of Belmont, Ohio began painting rocks as a spring break activity with her sister, Kim Barto of New Athens, and their four children — three boys and a girl ages 8 and 10.

The rocks were a great way to get the community involved in spreading the word about the new mural, she said. “The painted-rock trend can be a lot of fun for the community,” said Wertman.
