We’re not seeing these new icons on Gmail for desktop on our end in any browser, but as AP notes, the outline look-and-feel closer ties the mobile and desktop Gmail experience together.

If the Desktop icons are not on the Primary monitor (Monitor 1), but instead are moving to the Secondary monitor (Monitor 2) on a Dual-monitor setup, do this.
