The scanner, called the Leica RTC360, provides a digital 3D diagram of a scene, showing measurements and dimensions. It's used at major crime scenes, usually involving a death, or crashes.

The machine also has software that helps create interactive 3-D diagrams of the crime scene. “It takes about 15 minutes per scan for it to rotate around and capture everything,” Vaughan said.
