The American Business Immigration Coalition Action is calling on President Biden to grant work permits to undocumented immigrants who've worked in the U.S. for years.

Since the 1990s, U.S. law has allowed immigration officials to grant work permits to asylum applicants if their cases have been pending for at least 180 days.

U.S. law allows asylum-seekers to apply for a work permit 150 days after claiming asylum. The person would not be allowed to work prior to 180 days from claiming asylum, however, which is six months.
