TORONTO — A documentary about late Canadian comic John Candy will open the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival.

"John Candy: I Like Me" opening TIFF in September 4 is also a fitting tribute to the actor. Candy grew up in Toronto, and during his life he co-owned the Toronto Argonauts, the city's CFL team.
