A car fire in the Dewey Square Tunnel has shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 93, Massachusetts State Police said.

Investigators said Hedweens Quetant was racing another vehicle with his headlights off when he ran into Michael Wojdag’s 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe.

More than four inches of rain fell from Norwood to Canton to Milton, bringing the morning commute to a crawl as portions of Interstate 93 were temporarily shut down.

Downpours led to flooding on Interstate 93 in Milton and Quincy, Massachusetts, bringing the morning commute around Boston to a crawl Thursday.

Interstate 93 was shut down on both sides at Exit 3 in Milton due to flooding just before 9 a.m., according to MassDOT. The northbound side of the highway was also closed at Exit 8 in Quincy.

Portions of Interstate 93, which connects Boston to neighboring suburbs, were impacted by flooding, according to the Massachusetts State Police.
