The trail to the left brings visitors to the first of four truss railroad bridges. A 21st century pedestrian bridge along the Derby Greenway Trail meets a 19th-century railroad bridge.

On July 10 and 11, as part of 46th Annual Railroad Days event, the Housatonic Railroad invited passengers to ride from North Canaan to Great Barrington, Mass. once again.

The railroad tracks, high above the trail, are a constant companion. Visitors can even walk along the rails — in the form of a bridge constructed using only rails and the wooden ties.
