Graduation season is underway in Bakersfield. Caps and gowns are visible all around town as students celebrate this major milestone.

The chair was decorated with a cap and gown too. "It symbolizes what the students had to struggle with and just keeping their best friend alive," Campos said.

Coopersville High's Diego Cancela lost his cap and gown in a car fire just a week before graduation.

The cheery muppet donned a tiny cap and gown to inspire students at the University of Maryland. “Life is like a movie. Write your own ending,” he said.

But with prices of caps and gowns going for $50 to $70 and even higher, the high school senior says he doesn’t want any of his peers to miss out on this milestone.
