In its strategic plan, FEMA lists "equity" as one of three goals, along with climate resilience and readiness, that FEMA set out, opens new tab to achieve between 2022 and 2026.

The award, announced April 14, marks a historic milestone for the city and fulfills a key goal outlined in its 2022 Urban Forest Master Plan, a news release noted.
