Gandalf is far from the only name this wizard used in Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Everywhere he went, kingdoms and cultures gave him a new one.

Five wizards were sent to Middle Earth to help fight Sauron, but only Gandalf got to go back home because of his actions during the War of the Ring.
