Marine Corps Maj. Gen. David Bligh is up for the job as the judge advocate general for the Navy, a position that has been vacant since Vice Adm. Christopher French asked to retire last year.

The 250th Navy and Marine Corps Celebration Committee has extensive plans for the Nov. 6 event on Broadway Pier.

There will also be a free concert at Independence Mall and sporting events this fall to celebrate the military branches.
