Another colorful art project is to use a colander for tie-dying a shirt. Colander tie dying creates unique patterns you can't get any other way, using gravity to make the pattern.

The colander's holes serve a much more important purpose than just leaving a pattern, though. Air is able to get to the underside of the sourdough while it's proofing in a colander.
