The Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), governing the entire spectrum of civil litigation, dates back to 1908. Since its enactment, it has been amended several times to improve the justice delivery system.
In 2011, the Law Commission had proposed amendments to CPC's Section 89 which entered the code in 1999. The section allows civil courts powers over out-of-court disputes.
