VALPARAISO -- Former Valparaiso Fire Chief Tom Steindler Sr. has decided to retire from the department and begin work in the private sector.

“If anybody needed help, Cole was available, Cole was there to help,” Nate Engelken, assistant fire chief at the Centralia Fire Department, said.
