Life Abandoned Michigan asylum now has festive Christmas light show synchronized to music Published: Dec. 03, 2024, 8:17 a.m.
The two bonded over a love of exploring abandoned buildings and decided to have a date, of sorts, at an old asylum hospital last fall. Despite how that may sound, the setting helped spark a romance.
The light show, he added, is an opportunity for families to "celebrate the joy of the season." But for those who remember the hospital, joy often isn't the emotion that comes to mind.
The building was finally erected in 1895 and commissioned a year later. It was immediately successful. Ten years later, an asylum for women was built too.
