Senate Republicans and some Democrats voted to advance a stopgap funding bill which clears the path for a final vote to avert a government shutdown. The 62-38 vote included 10 Democrats joining all but one Republican in voting in favor.

The Senate is taking a procedural vote Friday afternoon on a Republican-led stopgap measure to keep the government funded ahead of a midnight deadline.
