The bodies of 55 of the 67 victims killed when a plane and helicopter crashed near Reagan National Airport have been recovered from the Potomac River, officials said in a news conference Sunday.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. before search and rescue efforts began in the nearby Potomac River for the 60 passengers and four crew members from the plane and three soldiers from the helicopter.
Flight records showed the passenger plane was expected to land around 9 p.m. But at 8:53 p.m., DC police began receiving calls about “an aircraft crash above the Potomac River,” the agency said.
