Alabama has carried out the nation’s fourth nitrogen gas execution, putting a man to death for the killing of a woman who was raped and shot during an apartment break-in.

Alabama executed murderer and rapist Demetrius Terrance Frazier by nitrogen gas at 6 p.m. Thursday. He was convicted in the 1991 rape and murder of 41-year-old Pauline Brown.

Demetrius Frazier, 52, was pronounced dead at 6:36 p.m. at a south Alabama prison for his murder conviction in the 1991 rape and killing of Pauline Brown, 41.

Pauline Brown was described as a family-oriented woman and hard worker. She was raped and killed by Demetrius Frazier on Nov. 26, 1991.
