People looking to reduce the U.S. national debt can also do so via debit or credit card, PayPal or directly from their bank account.

The US Treasury Department is now accepting Venmo and PayPal payments from those who want to donate money to reduce the nation’s ballooning $36.7 trillion debt.

The Treasury began accepting Venmo payments a few months ago. Last year, the government received $2.7 million in gifts to pay down the debt.
