Today, the England football team’s crest features three blue lions passant on a white background with 10 red Tudor roses which represent the regional branches of the Football Association.

The medieval crest, left, is echoed in the Three Lions logo, centre. The new Football Association design, right, will instead feature a cub, a lion and a lioness Bill Gardner.
