Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum says she’ll propose reforms to the country’s constitution aiming to reinforce the nation’s sovereignty, after the US designated several Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations – a move that could potentially lay the groundwork for direct US strikes inside Mexican territory.

Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday she will propose a constitutional reform aimed at further protecting Mexico's national sovereignty, after the U.S. designated various Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

President Claudia Sheinbaum also said Mexico will expand its legal action against U.S. gun manufacturers following the decision to designate drug cartels as terrorist organizations.
