Commuters who take the Metro-North New Haven Line will soon pay more to ride. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority discussed the proposal and approved it on Wednesday. The two 5 percent fare hikes were initially proposed by the state Department of Transportation.

Metro-North tickets to and from Connecticut may soon be more expensive. Connecticut’s Department of Transportation has proposed a 5% fare increase in September, followed by another 5% fare increase next July for the New Haven Main Line.
