The Twins made their first major sale of trade-deadline week Monday afternoon. Paddack, a right-handed starter in his fourth year with Minnesota, was dealt to the Detroit Tigers. The news was first broken in a story by Dan Hayes, Ken Rosenthal and Cody Stavenhagen for The Athletic.
Jeff Passan of ESPN reports there was an additional piece in the deal. Full trade, per ESPN sources: Detroit receives: RHP Chris Paddack and RHP Randy Dobnak Minnesota receives: C/1B Enrique Jimenez Dobnak is under team control through 2027.
Industry belief that one of Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax will be traded (7/23): Alden Gonzalez of ESPN shared that his "sense" is one of Minnesota's big relief arms will move before Thursday's deadline, although he acknowledges asking price is very high ( via ESPN ). The fourth-place Twins have no time to show that they can make a playoff run before this week's trade deadline.
In order to pry starting pitcher Chris Paddack away from the Minnesota Twins prior to the trade deadline, the Detroit Tigers had to part ways with 19-year-old catcher Enrique Jimenez.
