With the Houston Texans looking to build a new stadium, just how old is NRG Stadium compared to other NFL venues?

Houston's NRG Stadium opened in 2002. There are only six NFL stadiums more than 30 years old, and some of those will be replaced soon.

The Houston Texans are considering the possibility of moving on from their current home and building a new stadium, according to a report. The Houston Chronicle published a report Wednesday citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation that said the team is examining options for a new stadium — a scenario which could open doors for attracting major events and place a new burden on taxpayers.

NRG Stadium, the Texans’ home since their inception, was completed in 2002 and cost $352 million. The stadium and surrounding NRG Park need $2 billion worth of repairs, according to a facility condition assessment released in December.
