A disastrous start of 2025 when it comes to weather continued on Thursday throughout the area, with heavy rains and mudslides making their presence felt.

Severe storms on Thursday brought heavy rainfall to the Malibu and the Los Angeles area, triggering an 8-inch-high mudslide on Mulholland Drive near Malibu. Bulldozer crews worked overnight to clear mud and debris from the roadway,

The damage comes as L.A. County endures an atmospheric river storm, bringing torrential rainfall and the possibility for “life-threatening” debris flows to a region weary from last month’s devastating firestorm.
