Linear momentum is mass times velocity. One (not always correct) definition of angular momentum is "rotational mass" times angular velocity. Rotational mass is usually called the moment of inertia.

Angular momentum is a rotational analog to linear momentum. It is the product of the moment of inertia (the rotational force needed to rotate mass) and angular velocity.
