Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios has been officially inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025, further cementing his legacy in the state where he played a decade of dominant hockey with the Detroit Red Wings.
The Hockey Hall of Fame announced on June 24 the eight individuals that will be inducted as part of the class of 2025. Six players and two "builders" were voted by the selection committee, chaired by Hall of Famer Ron Francis (Class of 2007).
Strangis and Nieuwendyk will be officially inducted at the fourth annual Dallas Stars Hall of Fame Induction Gala at Gilley's Dallas South Side Ballroom on Sunday, Nov. 16

DETROIT — Chris Chelios, Rasheed Wallace and Claressa Shields are among the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame’s 2025 class of inductees. The hall of fame announced its 2025 class Friday night. Inductions are scheduled for Dec. 19 in Detroit.
Nieuwendyk and Strangis will be honored at the team’s Hall of Fame induction gala Nov. 16 at Gilley’s Dallas South Side Ballroom. They will also be honored with a ceremonial puck drop at the Stars’ home game vs. the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 15.
The Hockey Hall of Fame is changing its rules in a move that could lead to the first female player being inducted. Starting in 2010, the Hall will consider male and female candidates separately.
