The Banished were the main enemies in Halo Wars 2. Cortana, the AI companion of Master Chief, died in Halo 4 and was resurrected in corrupted form in Halo 5.

Instead, they are — or were — led by a Brute called Atriox. In the main campaign of Halo Wars 2, Atriox fights the UNSC when he and The Banished occupy the Ark.

The Banished faction was previously featured in the real-time strategy game Halo Wars 2. That game's villain, another Brute named Atriox, could very well play a role in Halo Infinite, as well.

It's currently unclear what other weapons beyond the SPNKr the Banished will be able to use (if any), but if we had to guess, we'd say that there's a strong chance we'll find Brutes using the UNSC ...
