Hall of Fame player Dwyane Wade says doctors performed a December 2023 surgery on his kidney to remove a tumor later determined to be cancerous.

Heat legend Dwyane Wade revealed on his podcast that he had nearly half of one of his kidneys removed because of a cancerous tumor. Wade said the procedure, which removed 40 percent of his kidney, was done in December 2023 after doctors discovered a tumor on his right kidney.

Wade, who turned 43 earlier this month, said his father’s journey with prostate cancer inspired him to see a doctor after experiencing stomach issues, cramps, and difficulty urinating. A tumor found in his right kidney was removed during a Dec. 18, 2023 procedure, he shared. It was later found to be cancerous.
