A slice of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's 1947 wedding cake has sold at auction for more than $3,000. The buyer, Gerry Layton, plans to cook and eat the cake slice for his 65th birthday.
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip tied the knot on Nov. 20, 1947, nearly six years before Elizabeth was crowned queen. The pair remained married until Philip’s death at the age of 99 in 2021.
