Organizations and communities across the nation are celebrating Black History Month, not just to celebrate Black history, to be teach it and its importance.

For 85 years, the NAACP local chapter has promoted Black history and culture and strives to educate SD on thoughtful advocacy and awareness.

Whether you’re a history buff or a theater geek, Black History Month is fun this year in Columbus. There are celebrations happening all around the city this month.

The Association for the Study of African American Life and History has named the theme for this Black History Month.

The event will feature art, music and dance along with a presentation by Dr. Uzoma Miller, assistant professor of African American Studies.

African Americans have evolved in our country. Tuskegee University was awarded an Air Corps contract to help train black military pilots. This group was eventually called ‘The Tuskegee Airmen’ and pushed for integration into the military.
