Sepp Straka Claims 3rd PGA TOUR Win at American Express 2025
Sepp Straka won $1,584,000 million for capturing his third PGA Tour title on Jan. 19 at The American Express. It was enough to jump 18 spots on the money list. It wasn't enough to catch Hideki Matsuyama or Collin Morikawa.
Straka played with his first 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour on Sunday, and he managed to maintain control of the tournament until the end.
The PGA Tour returned to the mainland U.S. this week, and once again three southern California courses were the scene for the American Express. The event offered an $8.8 million purse, with $1.584 million to the winner.

The PGA Tour drew a measly 232,000 viewers for Sepp Straka's win on Sunday, according to Josh Carpenter of Sports Business Journal, down from 534,000 last year for then-amateur Nick Dunlap's win over Xander Schauffele (T-3) and Justin Thomas (T-3). When LIV Golf's Jon Rahm won in 2023, 391,000 tuned in.
In line with the declining ratings of golf events, the final round of this year's American Express saw a 56% decrease in viewership compared to last year.
