Shares of Intuitive Machines ( NASDAQ: LUNR) closed another 22% lower on Friday following a 20% loss on Thursday, leaving the stock in the red for a third straight week, after the company put an early end to its IM-2 lunar mission.

Private space company Intuitive Machines is preparing for its second Moon landing, with the Athena lander scheduled to touch down tomorrow, March 6.

A robotic private spacecraft meant to gather critical data for humanity’s return to the moon toppled over upon landing, cutting the mission short, its operator Intuitive Machines (IM) confirmed on Friday.

Once deployed, the IM-2 mission's lunar lander, Athena, will start its 8-day trip to the South Pole of the Moon.

Athena, a spacecraft developed by Texas-based Intuitive Machines, launched at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday out of Kennedy Space Center. It is destined to land on the moon's south pole.

Grace isn't the only robot that caught a ride to the lunar surface on Athena. The lander is also carrying a small rover called MAPP (Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform), which was built by the Colorado company Lunar Outpost.
