Finch, Julius Randle and Minnesota Timberwolves
Minnesota Timberwolves HC Chris Finch was on one on Wednesday. The fifth-year veteran coach earned his first-ever career ejection in a game that saw the Timberwolves defeat the Phoenix Suns 121-113.
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards had to be the middle man after head coach Chris Finch got ejected against the Suns.
Apparently, Finch came into the day hot. His emotion was a carryover from one heck of a film session he had with the team Wednesday. “He woke up choosing violence,” said Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who had a season high 23 points.
It sucks,” Randle said. “I guess we’ll never know what could’ve been. I think the more unfortunate part is everything was a build, a constant build — I feel like all our teams overachieved year
Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert took time to develop chemistry before things blossomed last season. Halfway through this year, what have you thought of the new adjustments with Julius Randle,
Randle played a secondary role in the Timberwolves’ 116-99 win, taking a backseat in the spotlight as Anthony Edwards dazzled with 36 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
The New York Knicks took a risk by trading Julius Randle after all he'd contributed. Unfortunately, it's looking like it was the right decision.
Friday night marked Randle’s first game back at Madison Square Garden since the Knicks traded him and Donte DiVincenzo to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the three-team blockbuster that brought center Karl-Anthony Towns to New York.
With the February 6 NBA trade deadline quickly approaching, it certainly appears that Julius Randle isn't going to be dealt. The latest evidence to support that notion comes from longtime Minnesota sports insider Darren Wolfson.
One night the Wolves might primarily need Randle to be a playmaker. Another night they might need his scoring. It can be dependent on the other team's defensive look, like on Saturday when the Cleveland Cavaliers heavily utilized a zone set.
Minnesota coach Chris Finch didn't see the end of his team's game in Phoenix on Wednesday night, but he certainly had to like what transpired after he was ejected.
