Former two-division world champion Dwight Muhammad Qawi, who picked up the sport while serving time in prison and went on to gain induction in the International Boxing Hall of Fame, died Friday at 72.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi, who went from Rahway State Prison to the International Boxing Hall of Fame, has died. Qawi, who was born Dwight Braxton, was 77 and died on July 25 after a five-year battle with dementia, USA Today reported.
