Heineken shares soared after the company posted earnings that beat market forecasts and its own guidance, boosted by sales of premium and nonalcoholic beer, and launched a share buyback of $1.55 billion.

Heineken NV shares surged after the brewer announced a buyback and reported strong beer sales including in Brazil and Mexico, helping the company gain ground on rivals in more than half of its key markets.

Heineken led a rally in shares of Europe’s biggest brewers on Wednesday after the Dutch group’s annual profits and revenues beat forecasts. Shares in Heineken surged 12 per cent, powered also by the brewer’s announcement that it would buy back €1.5 billion of its stock.

Heineken posted a surprise leap in profits for last year as beer sales picked up across all major markets. The world’s second-largest brewer saw organic operating profit rise 8.3% in 2024 as beer volumes returned to growth having taken a hit the year before.
