Before Friday's 12-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners, it had been a long time since Tarik Skubal had a bad game for the Detroit Tigers.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize is expected to be named to the 2025 American League All-Star team, his first selection.

Much like his All-Star teammate Tarik Skubal did on Friday, July 11, Mize put in his worst start of the year right before the All-Star break as the Tigers lost 15-7 to the Mariners at Comerica Park. It was the most runs the Tigers have allowed in a game this season.

Last year, Skubal was debatably snubbed from the starting nod in the All-Star Game, when Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy selected then-Baltimore Orioles ace Corbin Burnes to make the start before giving the ball over to Skubal for the second inning.

The Tigers (59-38) have the best record in baseball, but limp into the break with a season-long four-game losing streak.
